Our Purpose
Our Ministry seeks to help Middle and High School Students Engage in the Real Life Climb by becoming Disciples of Christ who Worship, Link, Learn, and Serve.
Christ has come to bring us an abundant, full life. That is depicted in our Youth Ministry's theme verse, John 10:10: "I (Jesus) came to give life - life in all its fullness". (NCV)
We use the picture of Mountain Climbing because it depicts an exciting adventure that begins fairly easily, but inspires one to climb higher despite the increased difficulty knowing that there is a great accomplishment and reward when one makes it to the top.
As a Christian Teen makes the Abundant Life Climb, rather than ceasing to apply what they did at the bottom of the mountain, they will, instead, add to that knowledge and experience to become even more deeply involved in the climb the higher they go.
What do we mean by Worship, Link, Learn, and Serve?
Worship - we are to know who God is. The Abundant Life Climb is all about God and honoring Him. Many come to the Lord and are drawn by WHO He is - His majesty, His power, His glory, His holiness, and His salvation. Worship is not simply music, but is honoring God in every aspect of our lives (Psalm 99:9, Psalm 100:2, Colossians 3:17)
Link - we need other Christians in order to properly grow in Christ, enjoy the adventure, and fulfill God's best for us. I must not simply be in a room with others Christians, but spend time learning and growing and going through the abundant life climb together (1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Hebrews 10:24-25, many "one another" passages)
Learn - the Abundant Life Climb has an instruction manual. The Bible is God's Word and is required reading for any Teen who wants to successfully make this exciting, yet difficult, climb. It lets one know when they are going down the wrong path and shows them the correct path to follow (Psalm 119:11, Psalm 119:89, Psalm 119:97, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12)
Serve - each Christian Teen is designed to serve God and to serve other people. Their service to others is to reflect the character of the one true God. Through serving they will honor God and direct those people, whether saved or unsaved, to recognize God and glorify Him (Matthew 5:13-16, Matthew 22:37-40, Ephesians 2:8-10, Philippians 2:3-4, James 2:14-17)
